Key Responsibilities
- Directing all federal lobbying and congressional outreach activities
- Supervising legislative staff and fostering professional development
- Building and maintaining strategic alliances with external stakeholders
- Translating organizational campaign goals into legislative victories
Essential
- Serve as the lead lobbyist and primary representative for the organization on Capitol Hill
- Develop and execute comprehensive federal policy objectives and strategic advocacy plans
- Manage and mentor a team of two full-time staff members plus seasonal interns
- Establish and maintain robust relationships with congressional officials, government agencies, and coalition partners
- Lead the planning and execution of legislative 'Hill days' and high-level briefings
- Collaborate across departments including Regulatory Affairs, Science, and Communications
- Identify and address research gaps in scientific or legal areas to support policy goals
- Oversee the tracking of national legislation and management of legislative databases
Preferred
- Experience leading large-scale advocacy coalitions
- Deep familiarity with the National Alliance for Nutrition and Activity (NANA)
- Proven track record of passing federal legislation related to public health or food safety
