Key Responsibilities
- Lead weekly pitch meetings and approve story assignments
- Collaborate with multimedia journalists and photojournalists on story development
- Review, critique, and edit video and written content for broadcast and digital
- Oversee the technical execution of newscasts to ensure high quality
- Foster a healthy, collaborative newsroom culture and mentor junior staff
- Engage with the local community to identify essential news and events
Essential
- Must be lawfully authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in news production or editorial roles
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a management or leadership capacity
- Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Management, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
- Willingness to work flexible schedules including various shifts and schedule changes
- Ability to travel locally to engage with the community and discover stories
Preferred
- Ability to occasionally lift up to five pounds
- Advanced understanding of evolving digital media trends
