Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the Chief Administrative Officer implementing City Council policies
- Oversee the annual $120 million municipal budget and financial reporting
- Manage city-owned utilities including broadband, solar, and diesel generation
- Direct the operations of the municipal airport, landfill, and short-line railroad
- Collaborate with regional partners, park districts, and library districts
- Lead economic development initiatives leveraging the city's intermodal facilities
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, Political Science, Law, Engineering, or a related field
- Five to seven years of executive-level local government management experience
- Proven track record as a City Manager, Administrator, or Assistant Manager
- Expertise in municipal budgeting and financial management
- Experience in strategic and capital planning
- Background in Public Works and infrastructure oversight
Preferred
- Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Experience working in a larger municipal environment
- Advanced knowledge of Illinois municipal law and Council-Manager governance
