Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Chief Administrative Officer implementing City Council policies
  • Oversee the annual $120 million municipal budget and financial reporting
  • Manage city-owned utilities including broadband, solar, and diesel generation
  • Direct the operations of the municipal airport, landfill, and short-line railroad
  • Collaborate with regional partners, park districts, and library districts
  • Lead economic development initiatives leveraging the city's intermodal facilities

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, Political Science, Law, Engineering, or a related field
  • Five to seven years of executive-level local government management experience
  • Proven track record as a City Manager, Administrator, or Assistant Manager
  • Expertise in municipal budgeting and financial management
  • Experience in strategic and capital planning
  • Background in Public Works and infrastructure oversight

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Experience working in a larger municipal environment
