Key Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain the foundational data models and analytics architecture
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define and memorialize core company KPIs
  • Integrate AI coding assistants into the development lifecycle to optimize data workflows
  • Ensure all data products meet production-grade engineering standards and documentation
  • Provide actionable insights that influence product and business strategy

Essential

  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in analytics or analytics engineering
  • Advanced proficiency with dbt, including project architecture, testing, and documentation
  • Proven track record of implementing and scaling Business Intelligence platforms
  • Deep expertise in SQL and Python for data manipulation and automation
  • Experience working within a startup or high-growth corporate environment
  • Strong background in software engineering best practices such as Git, CI/CD, and code reviews
  • Must be based in the United States or Canada

Preferred

  • Experience as the first data hire in a previous organization
  • Familiarity with BI-as-code platforms or Lightdash specifically
  • Hands-on experience using AI coding agents like Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Claude Code
  • Active contributor to open-source projects (GitHub PRs/Issues)
