Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and execute the Institute’s overarching strategic vision and mission
  • Serve as the primary external representative and advocate for Morgridge’s research
  • Strengthen the 'shared destiny' partnership with UW–Madison and WARF
  • Cultivate a synergistic environment for interdisciplinary investigators
  • Oversee the institutional commitment to public outreach, ethics, and scientific education
  • Report to and collaborate with the Board of Trustees on organizational health and growth

Essential

  • Proven executive leadership experience within a complex scientific or research-oriented organization
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute long-term strategic visions and institutional goals
  • Experience managing relationships with a Board of Trustees and high-level external stakeholders
  • Deep commitment to fundamental, curiosity-driven biomedical research
  • Ability to foster interdisciplinary collaboration across diverse scientific departments
  • Strong alignment with the values of integrity, rigor, and public service in science

Preferred

  • Previous experience navigating the relationship between private research institutes and public universities
  • Background in managing translational outcomes and intellectual property partnerships
