The role
Overview
As a Senior Interaction Designer within the Digital, Data & Cloud department, you will be the primary architect of the user’s digital journey. Your daily focus involves crafting intricate interaction patterns, defining component behaviors, and mapping out complex interface states that ensure a seamless user experience. You won't just be drawing screens; you will be building high-fidelity prototypes that serve as the blueprint for development, documenting everything from micro-interactions to edge-case error states. A significant portion of your role involves championing the GOV.UK Design System, ensuring that every digital touchpoint is accessible, responsive, and meets the highest WCAG 2.2 standards.
You will join Version 1 at a time of significant growth, working within a multidisciplinary team of UX designers, researchers, and engineers. This environment is built on collaboration, where your design decisions are validated by evidence and user research. The culture here prioritizes technical excellence alongside human-centric design, meaning you will have the autonomy to contribute new, reusable patterns to shared libraries while ensuring consistency across a diverse portfolio of public and private sector projects. It is a role that demands both creative flair and technical rigor, bridging the gap between abstract user needs and concrete engineering requirements.
Career growth at Version 1 is structured and incentivized. Beyond the immediate impact of your design work, you will have access to a dedicated quarterly career development program and mentorship schemes. Whether you want to deepen your expertise in accessible design or move toward design leadership, the company provides the educational assistance and certification support needed to reach your goals. This is an opportunity to work on high-stakes digital services that impact millions of lives, all while benefiting from a culture that values work-life balance and collective success.
