Key Responsibilities
- Define the long-term architectural vision for the Data Platform organization
- Lead the development of high-performance storage and streaming systems
- Drive critical technical bets and 0→1 projects across multiple engineering teams
- Collaborate with engineering leadership to ensure platform scalability
- Mentor and elevate the technical standards of the engineering organization
Essential
- Proven track record as a technical lead for large-scale distributed systems
- Deep expertise in database architecture, including sharding and proxy systems
- Experience with real-time event infrastructure and Change Data Capture (CDC) systems
- Ability to lead 0→1 initiatives and introduce new technical capabilities
- Strong partnership skills to align engineering efforts with business objectives
- Willingness to work in-person at the Bellevue office at least 3 days per week
Preferred
- Experience with Delta Lake or similar large-scale data lake technologies
- Background in migrating complex systems (e.g., EC2 to Kubernetes)
- Public track record of technical leadership (blogs, talks, or open source)
- Experience in the fintech or high-frequency trading sectors
