Senior Interaction Designer
Version 1 · Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom · Posted 23 April 2026
The role
Overview
As a Senior Interaction Designer at Version 1, you will be at the heart of digital transformation projects that bridge the gap between complex business requirements and seamless user experiences. Your daily life will involve embedding yourself within multidisciplinary agile teams to craft services that are not only functional but deeply inclusive and accessible. You will be responsible for the end-to-end design process, from initial concept sketching and low-fidelity wireframing to building high-fidelity prototypes using tools like Figma and the GOV.UK prototype kit. By advocating for evidence-based design, you will ensure every interaction is rooted in actual user needs and validated through rigorous testing.
Joining the Digital, Data & Cloud department means working in a high-impact consultancy environment where your work directly affects public and private sector services across the UK. Version 1 fosters a culture of open collaboration and iterative improvement, where designers are encouraged to challenge assumptions and share their expertise with the wider design community. This is a space where your design decisions are respected and where you will have the autonomy to manage stakeholders and guide them through the user-centered design journey.
This role offers a significant growth trajectory for a designer looking to master the nuances of public sector standards and large-scale service delivery. You will have the opportunity to lead design workstreams on high-profile projects, mentoring junior designers and shaping the internal design patterns used across the organization. For a professional committed to social impact through design, this position provides the platform to build services that are truly usable for everyone, regardless of their access needs.
